1 Peter 1:21
” — that your faith and hope might be in God.”
News From My Life: Well, lately there have been a lot going on in my life so many, many changes. God has really been working on my relationship with Him. My family and I moved here to Hinsdale, IL. We are pretty much all settled in. W love our new home. I am working for Dad as his assistant and I enjoy working close together on different projects.
I am enjoying the beauty of the fall season (I love all the seasons really) and I have been taking the time to write more. I am also planning on working on the quilt I am making when I get home — a very special project. When the cooler temperature moves in I always get in the mood to quilt.
Here is a short story from my childhood that I hope will encourage you today —
My Quiet Place
I wanted to spend time alone with the Lord. I was around the age of 8 or 9 years old. I remember a special tree fort my Dad had made for all of us high in the pine trees of our backyard. That was a quiet place I could get away to and I remembered while Dad built it for us he mentioned the idea to me,
“This is where you can have your quiet time with the Lord.” He said.
I climbed the steep ladder with my bible in one hand holding onto the steep ladder with my other hand. I climbed up to my special place with God that morning.
I swept away the pine needles and cones that spotted the wooden floor of the tree fort and sat down. I opened my Bible and read from the Psalms. I can still remember the warm, early morning, sunshine. Looking out over the tall cornfield beyond, the wind blew softly across the big open field. There I opened up my heart to the Lord in prayer. I remember that with such fondness in my heart and I am pretty sure He does too. I have a feeling He loves to watch you seek Him out in some special, quiet place just to be in His presence.
Special Verse: Jer 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Tip for Today: (Adding this detail to the next one)
Quote to Keep: (Adding this detail to the next one)

Keep this up, it is good and it will be a blessing to a bunch of people. Isn’t it sweet to be able to serve the Lord together?
“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith–that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Eph 3:14-19 ESV)
Jeremiah29:13 …. That verse is your grandpa’s special verse…. it was on the cover of Billy Graham’s book….. “Peace With God”… and grandpa found the book in a bus station while waiting to get a ride home (from Glenview Naval Air Station) to his grandmother Sasser’s funeral.
That is how he found Christ.
Oh I also fogot to tell you one of my favorite songs is “A Quiet Place”
“A Quiet Place”
“There is a quiet place, far from the rapid pace
where God can soothe my troubled mind.
Sheltered by tree and flower, there in my quiet hour
with Thee all cares are left behind.
Whether a garden small, or on a mountain tall,
new strength and courage there I find.
Then from this quiet place I go, prepared to face
a new day with love for all mankind.”
(written by Ralph Carmichael)
Great to hear from you, Holly!!
Love your sister in Christ,
Hannah
I am old enough to be your grandmother, but not too old to remember my walks with God when I was younger. I pray that your life will grow richer as you travel the road to Christ that keeps on, just around the bend.
Holly, I was so blest by your blog. I will certainly share your words of encouragement with my daughters. As a family, we travel across the United States and Canada ministering to churches and families with our speaking and music. We see a great many homeschooled sons and daughters, and whenever I meet girls with the femininity and passion for Christ that you have shared in your writing, I rejoice that there is indeed a remnant willing to surrender all to our Lord. Thank-you ever so much for taking the time to write.
