Or is what’s in the past in the past? How truthful should he be with you? And how do you know he is being truthful with you? Let’s think about it… watch the video …

Victoria’s Secret talk…Shhhhh… no dudes allowed

Alright so I did a little short video on this… and the thoughts that I would like to hilight are:

1. Modesty is most important. 1 Tim.2:9

2. It’s ok to want to look beautiful and feel good. Even if YOU are the only one that sees you. And… married ladies you are different. ;) But I hope you want to look good too ;) If you are not married… You should be chaste, pure and holy. And be living a righteous and holy life. No one should see your underwear. And if they have… repent and start new. God loves a heart that is given over to Him. And it says the “Pure in heart will see God”! Matt. 5:8 If you fail… dust off and keep trying! It’s a beautiful thing to see God and so worth the struggle for purity. Keep fighting!!

3. I do not endorse, wrong advertising or wrong words on shirts. Ever. There are a lot of things that unchristian people or organizations do. That I would not do myself. So, I don’t agree with that. I believe in modesty. So seek it out for yourself! But the choice of what you do is up to YOU. And God will judge us individually.

Ebay:: My Juicy Purse

I bought this purse last year and carried it all summer. I loved it. It’s canery yellow with heart bling, with pink studded diamonds on them. I loved it….But I was ready to sell it. I was in the mood to get rid of some of my junk. So I put this purse on ebay. Well, it had quite a few bids and to my surprise… it sold for a good amount of money. I was happy. Well, the next day the girl wrote me and told me to add more money to the shipping because she was from Australia. I was not too happy that I would have to send it so far and have to deal with shipping but…. Ok. So, then I get a note that says “I don’t think I want it anymore” I was a little bummed. Ebay said I had a second chance offer so I went to offer it to the second bidder. They didn’t take it either.

So I put it back on ebay. Last night the bidding ended and I had no idea I had forgotten about it. I saw in my ebay that the last bidding went close to 25.00 dollars MORE than I had sold it the first time! :) I was so happy. Sometimes God just blesses us. And sometimes when God doesn’t allow something to happen it’s because He is doing something better for us. :)

Set-Apart Femininity

I want to bring to you a great book! (Another one of my favorite things) I just bought this at the Christian bookstore and have already enjoyed it a lot. There are some great things that Leslie covers. I like her. She stnads up and says things a lot of people won’t say today. I like that fact that she is relevent and lives in the today world, yet she speaks the truth about our needing to get back to some of the “old-fashioned” ways of life = God’s ways.

This book had inspired me already to live as God would have me live in beautiful set-apart femininity. Get it!

OK, another thing you can do right now. And that is to visit her blog. I did just tonight. www.setapartgirl.com She has links to great sites, 6 – 10 minute podcasts that will encourage you (I listened to one tonight it was great), she has a couple of online magazines with great stuff in them and more! So go there and check it out! I really enjoyed it tonight and will be visiting it more.

So off of Leslie’s blog I found another neat blog. This girl Christa Taylor sells cute, feminine affordable, fashionable clothes. And part of the profits go to orphan work! What a cool idea. She also has a cool blog you should check out. www.christa-taylor.com

In the girls bible study I just started on Tuesday evenings I told the girls that one thing we need to do is saturate ourselves with truth. God’s truth. There is so much junk out there. So many lies. So much of it! That we need to come back to the living and breathing truth. Of course that would be God’s Word. As well as other great things too. And these websites and book would be one of the great ways of getting truth into you! Proof there IS good stuff if we seach hard enough. Thank the Lord…

Style & Beauty

little-black-book.jpgI have always loved fashion, style and beauty. It’s a fun, very girly and feminine thing to do. Something that is perfectly healthy and normal if your a girl. This is something you should do, I beleive, if you are a Christain young lady. Too often Christian young women find it wrong to be stylish or look beautiful or enjoy fixing up. I beleive this is a wrong way to think! Beauty is something God given. See our Bible heroine Esther ( though I don’t recommend spending, what was it 12 months? in a row just on your personal appearance, as she did ) she was beautiful and God used her mightily because of it!

nina.jpg Recently my sister Hannah found a cute book at Borders that she showed me, knowing I would also love it. (Thanks Hannah) It’s called “The Little Black Book Of Style” by Nina Garcia. It’s really a cute book and I love reading it. I think it’s good to be as stylish as we can as Christian young women. We of all people should know how to be stylish in the right way. I actually would like to write more about this subject a little later. Based on a question I recieved from a girl thinking about all of this. Coming soon. Anyway!…

og-pink-and-brown-boot.jpg My style is that I love unique things. Realizing that this IS your style. The things that you really like are the things that set you apart and make you kind of your very own person. Of course, some people need more help with seeing fashion then others. But I like this rule that if you like it and others say “That looks like you” then this is your unique style!

For me. When I am shopping with my sister’s (one of the coolest things you can do, by the way) they will often see something with ruffles, tapers to the waist, gathers, and say “Holly, this looks like you”. Usually, they are right! It’s my style! I beleive we all have our own style.

Style Tips from “The Little Black Book Of Style”

– You can never have enough high heels. (I like this one)

– Wear your size. (When I realized this it was like night and day! A lot of times I don’t need to wear a size Medium just for the sake of “modesty” that wasn’t modesty that was frumpy and frumpy isn’t holy! Ok? OK … moving on … I can fit a size small and still be modest and look like a woman. Yeah! There may be a time, God forbid, that I can’t wear a small I need to enjoy it now!)

One of the quotes in the book I like. She was talking about not always going with the flow. To be fashionable we need to do our own thing. Be our own person. I like this. Yet at the same time, I beleive we shouldn’t purposefully go against things that are in style just for the sake of oddly sticking out.

Here is the quote:

“Only dead fish swim with the steam” – Malcolm Muggeridge

red-shoe.jpg So in other words, do your own thing! Make your own style. When people see something unique in the mall or in the store they say your name. That is YOU! So be stylish, have fun! Find your own way. Let me tell you it can be a challenge to find beautifully stylish things that are modest and honorJesus. I am not expert and never claim to be. But, IT CAN BE DONE. Yes it can.

A Series on Feminine-ness Part 1

me-n-smaller-yellow-daisy.jpgWith the start of a brand New Year I would like to start a small serious on feminine-ness! (that’s my own word) I believe that true feminine-ness is true beauty. There is such a need today for real women (and men but we won’t go there right now). I hope this series will help you really think Biblically about who God has created you to be. We will start with one of the most importnant parts of femininess though outward femininity is so very important as well.

A Spirit of Femininity
Here I will list the topics that we will be going over in the next few weeks~

1. Submissive & Strong
2. Gentle & Bold
3. A Quiet Spirit — Trusting & Humble
4. The Law of Kindness — Gracious & Loving

Submissive & Strong

There was once a beautiful woman. She was truly beautiful on the inside and on the outside. She was a strong woman. She was very loving yet she had to be unyielding because she had such a strong loyalty and love. She was a Queen her name was Esther.

Outward femininity is extremely important. Yet, the topic of femininity definitely gets a little deeper and more complex when we talk about having a spirit of femininity on the inside. Yet this is what Jesus talks about and what is “in His sight of great price”.

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 1 Pet. 3:3-4

It’s vital that we learn one of the most important aspects of femininity and that is to be submissive right now to the authorities in our lives.

When and if the Lord has you marry one day it will be the key to unlocking the heart of what God intended marriage to be. If you don’t have this under Christ’s control it would be best to not get married until you do. If you can’t be obedient to your parent’s wishes now you will have major problems in marriage later. Being submissive to our authorities is God’s idea. We also see here in God’s Word that we do it in the Lord and as unto the Lord.

“Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right” Eph.6:1

“Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord” Eph. 5:22

We also need to see the need for strong woman who will stand up against the tide of really rather weak women in today’s world. The definition of the word “Strong” is: decisively unyielding; firm or un compromising. It doesn’t take that much effort or a very strong woman to give in to her own way and to be strong willed. Yet it takes a very strong woman to take her own natural inclinations in hand and submit to her authority. Any woman can naturally be independent, strong willed and disobedient to her authorities but it takes a strong woman in the Lord to go beyond this and lovingly submit with a gracious spirit.

Hannah in the Bible is a good modal of strength in a beautiful way. You really should read about her in 1 Sam. 1 & 2 if you haven’t recently. She wanted a baby. She wanted to be a mother. She fasted, prayed and wept for God’s blessing. She was strong yet she was submissive to God’s will for her life. I love it that she didn’t give up! Her submission to the Lord was shown when she made a vow to God that if He would grant her desires and give her a baby she would give it right back to Him (1 Sam.1:11). Women who won’t give up, women who are strong “decisively unyielding, firm and uncompromising” this is what a weak world needs. Who actually do believe in something!

If you’re single it’s important that you have a clear understanding and biblical basis for femininity. You will be questioned, yes you will. You also may need to have sound advice for your married friends.

It is very important to realize before you get married that this is the man you will submit to. This is the man that you will be under and who will lead. It’s pretty important to think of questions as you go into marriage. Is this the kind of man that I would want to be obedient to and be under his authority and direction for life? Will he be a loving listener? (Of course this is something your mom and dad would be able to figure a lot better than you when your emotions are involved)

Don’t you see this is something that reaches not to just our outward selves but deeply into who we are? It will affect our future as well as the present. This is something that is if not declining almost totally lost in our day. We, as Christian woman, need to gain back and keep a standard of femininity that is pleasing to the Lord.
