When I was a little girl my Dad would take all of us kids on a little field trip into the Library (probably mostly to give my mother a break and some sanity… there were 8 of us). He would lovingly give us the talk about how to be super quiet and how important it was to not make any noise. I remember taking him so seriously and being so very quiet. He would then tell us we could pick out any books that interested us. Anything we wanted. I had many interests as a young creative type child so my arms would always be full. I still remember my Library card number it was 2323.
This was a picture of the Selover Library in Chesterville Ohio. Just down the road a few miles from where we lived. It was my favorite place to go almost every single day when I was young.
My favorite books to check out were the personal care books. I would run to those and just read them over.
“Wash your face every single day”‘.
Or “Do a mask twice a week for glowing skin”
To me those were the most fun to check out, I just loved them and still do. I should have had a idea back then as to what I would be. I would also have many other books like “American Girls” I read pretty much the whole series. Or “Nancy Drew”.
Those were some of the best and sweetest memories I have. And you know they were free. They were big events to us…. but they were in actuality simple things and educational. Remember that as you raise those babies… It doesn’t have to be complicated. My Dad made it such a fun and happy event for us as kids. We looked forward to it and loved it. So line those kids up like little ducklings and walk yourself into the library. Tell me how it goes….
